Severance, the Apple TV+ mystery about an office filled with workers who cannot remember (and are severed from) their outside lives, quickly became one of the leading shows of the year for a myriad of reasons. A haunting tale of grief, human will, and the horrors of the office job, the show had a surprising queer romance burgeoning that just added to its brilliance.
If John Turturro and Christopher Walken being one of the year's leading couples was on your bingo card, then provide yourself a stamp; otherwise, you probably have heard a lot about Severance, which eagerly pulls anyone ready to dive down the office hallway horrors it has waiting in store.
Most shows are eager to throw everything at you, but Severance holds its breath, letting the tiny pieces of life in the show make for some of the year's most compelling television.

1. SMOGGIE QUEENS ( - present)
Set in the heart of Middlesbrough, SMOGGIE QUEENS is a heartwarming and often surreal northern sit-com following a community of LGBTQ+ friends in their day-to-day lives. It's exaggerated and ridiculous at times, but also a genuinely charming portrayal of being in the north-east of England. If you like your comedy with smatterings of queer joy and found family it's well worth a watch. The demonstrate has also been commissioned for a second season.

2. I KISSED A BOY/I KISSED A GIRL ( - present)
I Embrace It&#;s difficult to summon any general or specific description of the LGBTQ+ television landscape in without feeling a nagging anxiety similar to one you might sense describing your bright future with a girl who might not even like you back — because if we learned anything about LGBTQ+ inclusive programming this year, it&#;s that we can&#;t really count on any of it to last. Of the 28 shows on this list, nine were cancelled and four have yet to be renewed. One of those cancelled shows, Minx, was renewed for a second season and already in production when HBO Max changed their minds, axed it, and announced its intention to take away its first season from the streaming service altogether. Only 11 titles on this list — 40% of the total — have been definitively renewed for additional seasons. (That said, we&#;re obviously more likely to vote hard for a show we&#;ll never have a chance to vote for again, so these lists do favor expired properties.)
