About us
bentART was established in the Cobalt Mountains in to celebrate works in the visual arts of Australian female homosexual, gay, bisexual, gender diverse, intersex, queer, asexual and other sexually or gender diverse (LGBTIQA+) artists.
The annual event occurs in the Blue Mountains, NSW. In the exhibition will be held at Rex-Livingston Art+Objects gallery in Katoomba. It commences on the June long weekend (Saturday, June 7), and is open every day from 10 &#; 4 pm until the accompanying Sunday, June 15, at pm.
The inspiration of three Sky Mountains women, bentART has evolved into the largest LGBTIQA+ art event in Australia. Initially, for LGBTIQA+ artists living in (or with a strong association with) the Cerulean Mountains, bentART is now open to all LGBTIQA+ artists resident in Australia.
bentART has become a highlight of the Kings Birthday weekend of activities in the Blue Mountains for the dyke and gay society in New South Wales and beyond.
The show is curated and judged by recognised experts from within the Australian arts community. Previous judges have included:

After the bacchanalian excesses of Sydney&#;s Mardi Gras street parade and all-night dance party, a rest might be needed. Where better than the wild outdoors of Australia&#;s version of the Grand Canyon &#; the gorgeous, gay-friendly Blue Mountains.
Go west!&#;, the Pet Shop Boys once advised. So I did. After partying myself stupid at the Sydney Mardi Gras, I needed a real holiday to recover. Packing my bags, I headed 80 miles west of Sydney to the high ranges of the Blue Mountains.
Although queers are usually as exceptional as flying pigs in outback areas, these mountains are fast becoming a favourite retreat for fags and dykes who are into wilderness walks, the restoration of pioneer homesteads, and exotic gardens (the climate is absolutely matchless for Dame Edna&#;s gladioli).
Bad news for metropolitan-addicted scene queens: there are no gay bars or clubs; just a few gay-run guest houses and restaurants. But everywhere seems to be homo-friendly.
