We are looking for a curious and motivated new member of our team working on single-walled carbon nanotubes as one-dimensional semiconductors. The goal of this PhD project is to understand the many-body physics of excitons and trions in carbon nanotubes, i.e., the spectroscopic features (optical absorption/emission) of chemically, electrochemically and electrostatically doped carbon nanotubes at diverse carrier densities and temperatures.
The proposal is embedded in the Collaborative Research Centre “Isolated quantum systems and universality in extreme conditions” (SFB , ) and the Institute for Physical Chemistry () in Heidelberg ensuring close collaboration between theorists and experimentalists.

Bei der Beobachtung von Übergangsriten stellte der Anthropologe Victor Turner fest, dass Individuen oder Gruppen in der mittleren der drei Phasen eines jeden Ritus – nachdem sie sich in einer ersten Phase von der sozialen Ordnung symbolisch abgelöst haben – in einen Zustand der Liminalität geraten: einen Schwellenzustand, einen Zustand der Mehrdeutigkeit, der Unentscheidbarkeit und der Verwirrung. Sie sind „betwixt and between“. In diesem ambivalenten Zustand zwischen Fakt und Fiktion machen die Initiierten eine von Turner „Communitas“ genannte Flow-Erfahrung von Gleichheit, Ganzheit, Einfachheit, Offenheit, Anonymität, Selbstlosigkeit und Besitzlosigkeit jenseits von Status, Rang, Distinktion, sexueller Differenz, Familie oder Hierarchie.

The golden age of Downtown clip is in black and white. Punk kids pose on rooftops with graffiti they just painted as backdrop, the city spilling out across the horizon. Everyone's high and broke and an artist. The films do not document a way of living as much as evident it. Arriving to the Lower East Side as I did in , these films, and the performances, paintings, and bars that they conjured, were still happening-although I felt uninvited and unwanted and largely disconnected from this scene-and so, like so many others before me, I worked with others to make another Downtown. Ours is in , colour camcorder video and features gay men and women in meetings, marches, and mourning: a unlike golden age, the similar Downtown streets. One metropolis, many maps. My Downtown houses graduate school at New York University (NYU), HIV rife across newly intersecting communities, and political/theoretical art and living practices that become AIDS activist video and the novel
