NYC bear guide
NYC bears are hardly confined to one habitat. Use our bear guide to find where you can party with these friendly, furry urban creatures.
Undeniably, the NYC bear scene has moved from subculture to the queer mainstream in the past few years, thanks in part to large-scale events like Urban Bear Weekend and Provincetown, Massachusetts's Bear Week. At this signal, bearded, husky guys lead much of gay clubs and nightlife, from lgbtq+ bars like Stonewall and Rockbar to mega gyrate parties including Horse Meat Disco and the Fur Ball. So what makes a bear? These days, it's pretty much anyone with face fuzz and a bit of extra meat on his bones. We're not generally hung up on labels around here, but there's no denying that these guys throw some of the best parties around. Our NYC bear guide will help you navigate the furry forest.

New York City is place to many great same-sex attracted club nights, but one of our favorites is Soaked, held monthly at Rockbar. Soaked is a night full of body positivity, great music, drag, bears and go-go dancers. Plus, they have a moist underwear contest!

Hi guys! Why dont we start by having you tell us about yourselves and your backgrounds
My name is Matty B. I’m of Italian and Irish decent. I’m a native New Yorker and a licensed hair stylist. I am also a special organizer for the NYC Veterans Time parade, an active member of The American Legion Post and an activist for current active duty military and veterans needs and causes.
I started in the club scene about 8 years ago while working with the Furball Party at various places such as XL lounge, Space Ibiza, Santos Dwelling, Stage 48, Cielo and The Copacabana. While active with these places I realized that I wanted to be more deeply interested with nightlife scene and to bring something that was different to a scene that had a lot of the matching parties. So when my best
New York has played a major role in LGBTQ+ history and it’s no wonder there are a slew of bars that have been beacons for the community (and prime party spots) for decades. The best homosexual bars in NYC range from dive bars to dance clubs, with historic spots like the Stonewall Inn anchoring them all. The West Village is a classic destination for queer nightlife, but you’ll find something thrilling and welcoming in pretty much any part of the city.
You can check out the top drag shows or cabaret performances, but these queer spaces all offer something unique, from cozy vibes and cheap drinks to high-energy dancing and brunch parties - sometimes in the equal place on different days! Maybe your interests skew more trendy and urbane, or perhaps you're more of the down-and-dirty hook-up spots, the "what happens on the weekends, stays on the weekends" type — we're not here to judge! There are plenty of LGBTQ+ things to do in New York, but if it’s a bar you’re looking for, we’ve got you covered.
